Road systems change all the time – it’s thought that up to 15% of roads across Europe are updated every year but ensuring your BMW stays up to date is simple with USB or Over-the-air map updates.

As soon as new maps are made available for the country that your BMW is currently registered to on your ConnectedDrive account, your car will begin the update process for that country using the built in SIM card. A full regional map update can subsequently be completed via the USB map update process.

How does it work?

Key points to note.

  • All new BMWs will feature USB and Over-the-air map updates as standard. Subscriptions last either 2 or 3 years depending on option codes – see FAQs for further information.

  • Country updates for the registered location are completed Over-the-air through the in-built SIM card.

  • Regional updates if required will be completed using a USB from the ConnectedDrive website.

Why would I buy this?

  • Roads change all the time.

  • No data charges are incurred as the over-the-air updates are done through the in-built SIM.

  • Your BMW has one of the most sophisticated navigation systems on the market – keeping it up to date with new data and functionality will ensure it stays that way.

  • Even during the update process your navigation system remains fully operational.

What you will need.

  • BMW Professional navigation.

  • An active BMW ConnectedDrive account.

  • To update via USB you will need a USB stick with at least 64gb of data space.
